Dr. Chelsea Shieldsmith is a licensed doctor of chiropractic who has successfully completed board examinations administered by the North American Board of Chiropractic Examiners. She earned her Bachelor of Life Sciences and her Doctor of Chiropractic from the fully accredited and nationally recognized Logan University in Chesterfield, MO. She is an active member of both the American Chiropractic Association and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Dr. Shieldsmith is the longest-standing chiropractor in the area certified in the highly sought after Webster Technique.

Dr. Shieldsmith is dedicated to inclusively serving babies, children, teens, and adults— of all abilities— to resolve both acute and long standing health concerns. She provides compassionate collaborative care, and will create an individualized treatment plan specific to your needs to correct underlying causes of “dis-ease”, so you can “move towards living life well-adjusted”. Dr. Shieldsmith especially enjoys helping women during all stages of pregnancy— including the often forgotten fourth trimester and offers the Webster Technique in order to support mothers in a more comfortable, safer, and easier birth by optimizing normal physiological function. Her other areas of expertise include: newborn and pediatric care, stress management, sleep hygiene, gut supportive nutrition, supplementation, exercise and movement, rehabilitative therapy, and overall lifestyle support. She also fosters and maintains close relationships within the health and wellness community and is comfortable co-managing her patients’ care with other trusted providers in the area. Dr. Shieldsmith finds true joy in educating and empowering people to make informed lifestyle and nutritional choices to live longer, stronger, happier and healthier lives.

Dr. Shieldsmith utilizes several different treatment techniques such as Activator, Cox Flexion Distraction, Diversified, Logan Basic, Thompson Drop Table, and Webster Technique. In addition to adjustments, she also provides various modalities such as manual and percussive therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, cupping, electrical stimulation, stretching, Graston, and individualized rehabilitation programs. She also heavily advocates for the usage of chemically safe personal care and home-care products, and is happy to make recommendations in this area to further enhance your healthcare goals.

Dr. Shieldsmith was born and raised on a farm in rural Southern Illinois and loves all things outdoors! She spends her free time trail running, mountain biking, kayaking, camping, and hiking with her husband, daughter, and friends. She also proudly identifies as a “crazy cat lady” and loves her three rescue cats. Dr. Shieldsmith has a passion for the arts as she was raised in a family of musicians and artists. She continues to actively paint when time allows and has enjoyed showing her work at various galleries throughout the country. Additionally, Dr. Shieldsmith is very dedicated to the Columbus Area Arts Council’s mission to strengthen the community through arts and culture— and recently completed serving her full term as a board member for the organization. She has lived in the Columbus area for almost 10 years and is honored to serve this vibrant community.
